Catherine’s Dream Comes True
Catherine Reilly has been a member of the Heath Golf Club since 1985 and if you talk to any member of the Heath they will say "Catherine is a great club member". She has been Captain and President and has served on many committees, too many to mention. However it is on teams that Catherine has really shown her dedication to the club and to the game. She has been the leader of the clubs Senior Cup Team since 1997 and was an important member this year when the club won the District Finals and reached the All-Ireland Semi-finals. Catherine has helped many people in their early struggles with golf and has been a patient teacher and mentor to many.
This year following a few years of dedication to the game Catherine was rewarded with an Irish Cap which was a dream come true. She wore that green jacket with pride in the European Senior Women’s Team Championship in Slovakia. She proudly brought her team to victory with a 73 (1 over par) in the second round. The team won bronze which was a very credible performance and one of which Catherine and the Heath can be rightly proud. Following the Irish Stroke play Championship in Belvoir Park Belfast Catherine was called up for the Home Internationals in Newport Wales during the first week in October. Having beaten Wales and Scotland,Ireland faced England in the final matches in the series and were not to be denied! They shared the morning foursomes and in the singles showed true spirit winning the final match on the final green to win the crown. The Heath Golf club is very proud of the honour which Catherine brought to the club and it is one she wears with humility and pride.
