Hole Description
A slight dogleg from left to right from the tee to a generous fairway provides the big hitters a chance to reach this hole in two. For the rest of us the second shot is all about position. A fairway bunker on the right is waiting for any shot judged incorrectly. The approach to the green can be from any number of clubs from a wedge to a 6 or 7iron. There is a bunker on the left to protect the green and an ill-judged long shot will send the ball into the furze at the back.

Hole Description
The first of 4 par 3’s on the course. This hole really depends on the way the wind is blowing. You can use anything from a 7 iron to a 3 wood. The green is well guarded at the front by two deep bunkers left and right and two more bunkers on the left and right. It pays to be a little big on this hole rather than short. A relatively flat green will reward good tee shots.

Hole Description
This can be one of the most difficult holes on The Heath. It requires a good drive from the tee with trees and out of bounds on the right and also trees waiting for anything that goes left. It requires a long iron for the second shot to a well-bunkered green that slopes dramatically from back to front. Anything past the pin will almost certainly result in a three-putt.

Hole Description
The second of the par 5’s is the straightest of the three. Furze on the left, trees on the right mean trouble from the tee. Once on the fairway a long iron will set up this hole for a good birdie opportunity. The green is guarded by two big bunkers left and right. A gentle slope from back to front will allow for a good chance to make most putts.

Hole Description
This hole, although the shortest of the par 4’s can be the most frustrating. A dogleg from left to right with furze and dense trees to the right, a little lake and even more furze on the left the tee shot is critical. Accuracy rather than length counts here and a tee shot slightly down the left side will open up the large two tiered green. The trees will block out any shot that goes to the right. A good approach with a short iron can set up yet another birdie opportunity.

Hole Description
Probably the most daunting of driving holes on the Heath. A narrow exit from the tee with furze left, right and in front of the tee box creates this impression but the fairway is more generous than it may appear. Down the right hand side is the ideal line to attack this hole. A green side bunker is front right which narrows the entry to the green and requires a precise approach.

Hole Description
A raised tee box and a generous fairway provide for a good driving hole here. Although the hole measures 380 yards a good drive will run down the hill and leave only a mid-iron to a fairly large green. The green slopes from right to left and pace is of utmost importance. Anything over-hit will run 4 or 5 feet past the hole. There is a bunker on the right.

Hole Description
The 8th hole requires a very long tee shot as this hole is normally into the wind. Hitting this fairway, which is quite wide is essential if you are to make a well-earned par. The second shot always plays longer than the markers suggest and you will need an extra club to reach this slightly raised green across the ‘Valley of Sin’ with two enormous bunkers left and right. The green, which slopes from back to front right provides a difficult test of putting and a two-putt is always good here.

Hole Description
The back nine starts with a dogleg from right to left. Again a wide fairway but beware anything either side of the fairway will be swallowed by trees on both sides. The hilltop green falls away severely to the left and your approach should be right of the flag.

Hole Description
Your tee shot across a quarry to this par 3 must be long and true. There is a bunker on the right side of this green to catch shots to the right and shots to the left have a tendency to fall away from the green. The green, once you have reached it, is relatively flat with a good chance of holing a long putt.

Hole Description
Another slight dogleg here from left to right. Stay clear of the spinney on the right and your second shot to a large green is one of the easiest you should have on the course. Nothing protects the front of the green but if you drift right there is a bunker and on the left a grass bunker waiting for you.

Hole Description
This is regarded as the hardest hole on the Heath. With out-of-bounds to the right and two grass fairway bunkers on the left, hitting this fairway is a must. Your second shot to a raised green is always further than it looks. Leave this shot short and a difficult chip awaits you. When you have made the green you will be happy to two-putt and carry on.

Hole Description
There is out of bounds on the right to catch the really wayward drive. One of the widest targets for driving will set up a good approach to the green which should be to the right side. The sloping green requires a good deal of care or you can very easily drop a shot here.

Hole Description
You will need all your concentration for this hole. A drive up the left here will give you a good view of the green, but short and right will leave you a blind second shot to a long narrow green with mounds on both sides. Par is very satisfying here.

Hole Description
The longest of the par 5’s has out of bounds to the left along with some furze and trees both left and right. However, a good drive down the centre will generally run to the left half of the fairway. The middle of the fairway opens up the green which is a dog leg right. The green is undulating and it is very difficult to get the approach shot to remain on the green. Good luck with the putting.

By far the toughest of the par 3’s. The green is raised and slopes from back to front. You must overcome severe breaks and judge the pace to perfection or even the best of putters will 3 putt.

Hole Description
A very difficult driving hole requires extreme accuracy. The fairway slopes from left to right so you must hit left and let the slope take the ball back to the middle of the fairway. Huge spinneys will greet any shot left or right and you will be lucky to make a bogey. The second shot, once on the fairway is up hill to the large green that is protected by two bunkers on the right. An extra club from the fairway is advisable. The green slopes from left to right.
